For more than 80 years, Citizens Community Bank has been an active member of the communities of Hahira, Morven, Valdosta, and the surrounding areas. Because we value our relationships with our customers, friends and family, we support our local chambers of commerce, schools, and non-profit organizations whenever possible.
2012 Lowndes Heart Walk
Approximately every 25 seconds, an American will have a coronary event, and approximately every minute someone dies of coronary disease. Last year, the Chairman of our Board of Directors, D.K. Hollis, Jr., fought heart disease, and we are honoring him by participating in the 2012 Lowndes Heart Walk on November 3.
CCB took the lead role in sponsoring the Heart Walk fundraiser this year. The American Heart Association has an annual walk that involves the entire community in raising funds for heart and stroke research, programs that educate people about proper eating and exercising, and programs that provide guidance, in general, that leads to healthier lifestyles. Heart disease and stroke are the number 1 and 4 killers among Americans. The goal of the AHA is to improve heart health by 20% by the year 2020. They recently rolled out a program called “My Heart. My Life.” that is getting favorable feedback nationally.
Tim Jones and CCB led the effort to raise $70,000 in this year’s Heart Walk, and the bank dedicated its efforts to honor D.K. Hollis, Jr. for all the work he has done throughout his banking career to serve the communities that it banks. Saturday morning, November 3rd, marked the official end of the campaign for the year, and hundreds of walkers gathered in McKey Park to celebrate and walk. In the end, the community raised over $75,000, exceeding its goal, and making a commitment to fight heart disease!
A BIG Thank You to Valdosta and Lowndes County!
Hahira's Honeybee Festival
Each year in October, Hahira's Honeybee festival fills the streets of Hahira with fun and festivity. Vendors fill the streets, and activities include a pageant, dog show, 5K run, parade, gospel sing and more. Plan now to visit Hahira during the Honeybee Festival, October 1st through 6th.
United Way Day of Caring
The United Way Day of Caring is becoming a community tradition, and this year, Citizens Community Bank supported the event by sending a team of five to help complete a variety of tasks for various United Way Agencies. Our volunteers helped change lives for the better by participating in the "Amazing Race" on Friday, August 24!
Relay for Life
Everyone has seen a friend or family member affected by cancer. This spring Citizens Community Bank joined the fight by participating in the 2012 Relay for Life and raising more than $4,000.00 to benefit the American Cancer Society. Thank you for all your support and donations!
Customer Appreciation Day
For more than five generations, the people of South Georgia have made Citizens Community Bank strong. On November 9, 2012, we wanted to say "Thank you!" to all our customers for their support with free hot dog lunches. Our customers and employees had a great time, and we're looking forward to doing something like this again soon!
